God Dwells In The Midst Of Our Praise

Article by Pastor Steve Berger (http://steveberger.gracechapel.net/2012/03/god-dwells-in-the-midst-of-our-praise/)

God literally inhabits and dwells in the midst of our praise. Psalm 22:3 says, “But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.” He is there when we praise and worship Him.

This is so important for us to remember and here’s why: If you are going through tough times and you are trying to find God in the mess and yuck of your crisis and circumstances, stop. Quit trying to find God, and start worshiping Him and He will find you.
When we stop trying so hard in our own puny power and simply build a throne of praise to Him, He will come and inhabit and sit right in our midst. The language of praise acts like a magnet and God quickly attaches Himself to us. It’s a promise—God is enthroned on the praises of His people.
Then what happens? When God is enthroned on our praise, every good thing that He does is available to us. Every good thing that comes with Him, the Creator of the Universe, is available to us.
We can clearly see this happening in the life of Jehoshaphat. In the Old Testament book of 2 Chronicles we discover that the Ammonites and the Moabites are coming to seize the kingdom of Judah. A worship leader comes and tells Jehoshaphat, “Thus saith the Lord, Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed. God is going to fight the battle for us.”
King Jehoshaphat says, “Alright, forget the military; bring me the choir.”
2 Chronicles 20:21–22 says, “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: ‘Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.’ Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.”
What’s the most powerful thing you can do when the enemy is coming after you? Praise God!! When your circumstances get bad, that’s when you need to praise Him the most!
God is looking for people who will worship Him in the middle of their crisis so that He can come and dwell in the midst of it and bring everything He is into the situation. We can’t be “fair-weather” worshipers. We can’t stop worshiping Him as things get worse in our lives, or only worship Him when the sun is shining. We need to worship Him at all times.
God has saved the Berger family’s life by His grace through our unrelenting passion to never stop worshiping Him. It’s no different for you. Praise Him and watch and see what happens.
